Not to criticize one of the most successful retail operations in history but... Generica was a word coined to mean that where ever you go in America, it is all the same. Same stores, same food, same styles, ect. with no local style or culture. Well whenever there is discussion about an Apple store after the grand opening, it is always a flagship store. No one talks about mall locations. There should be something unique about each location. Maybe just something simple such as above the Genius Bar have the store location name or map or maybe just a screen showing area photos. A little more distinctive would be using glass as they do in the flagship stores. The staircases stand out so extend that idea. Have something made out of glass in every store. A glass display table for instance. Or maybe a glass panel on the floor. Whole Foods advertises that way. Can you see a back-lighted display in the floor? The cookie-cutter stores are easy to design but uniqueness will sustain retail longer and better.
